The various reports of issues began almost immediately after the release of the version 2.0 update this.
- Talked to several retail spots and an apple guy. The only way I could do it was to use an Apple TV. Then download the DirecTV app onto the Apple TV. There was no way to cast it otherwise. You can get a firestick or other brand but you'll have to go through another device for it to work.
- For some strange reason, some of the on-demand episodes can be downloaded to DVR, and others can only be viewed using the DirecTV app on my iPad. When I started viewing one of the episodes only available on the iPad, I invoked screen mirroring through my AppleTV 4K in order to view the show on the TV display.
- I know it's crappy quality, but this was a quick and dirty demo of how fast the Apple TV variant of the DirecTV Now app works. DirecTV NOW seems to be putting most of their efforts in to this.
@DIRECTVNowHelp Help! I am unable to log in to my Directv Now account. I can't use chat since I can't log in. I can't log in on the web and my Apple TV.
Uninstall the Beta app by selecting SettingApplications Manage Installed Application from the Fire TV/Stick Menu. Select the DIRECTV NOW Beta app. Choose the Uninstall Option, following the on-screen instructions. Once the Beta is uninstalled, you will then be able to update and launch the new DIRECTV NOW app.

Over 20 reports through Twitter were made of the same login issue. BESTAppleTV.com has followed up with four of those publicly reporting issues. Three of the four report they are still unable to log in, some more than three days after first encountering problems.
DirecTV Now and its parent company, AT&T, are telling customers that until the issue is resolved, they can access their accounts through their web browser, various mobile apps and directly through the apps of various networks that allow sign-on with their DirecTV Now accounts, the latter being a tedious process that restricts users from watching more than one channel at a time.
A communications spokesperson for AT&T or DirecTV Now has not responded to repeated attempts for comment to this story.
